Science

This term we are learning about how things change when heated or cooled.  We are going to become very good at observing and doing experiments.  We will be able to share and say what we found out in our science experiments.  This week we have been talking about solids and liquids and about melting and freezing.  We made iceblocks! Eating them today was a great way to end our first week back at school.

Here are some of our instructions that we wrote so that you will know how to make our ice blocks!  We had to make sure we wrote the instructions in order and  we used lots of words like pour, mix and stir.

Book Week Stories

My favourite book is Peter Pan and Tinkerbell because they fly to Neverland.  Peter Pan is not bad but in one movie Peter Pan is bad.  He took kids to Neverland and kept them there because the lost boys wanted a mum.
By Ben

My favourite book is Snow White.  The Witch gave Snow White a poisonous apple and Snow White died when she ate the poisonous apple.  She slept for a very long time and she slept in a glass bed and her husband came.
By Pinenga

My favourite story is Cinderella.  Cinderella’s step sisters are very mean to her because they order her to do all the jobs.  They never help.  At the end the handsome prince and Cinderella got married.
By Taylah

My favourite story is Red Riding Hood.  One day there was a girl that had a red hood.  Little Red Riding Hood walked in the woods but a wolf got in her way and then the wolf got her flowers.  She got to her Grandma but the wolf got there first.  Grandma hid in the cupboard from the wolf.  The wolf got in bed and then Little Red Riding Hood got in then she said “What big ears you got”.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

We have read the story of the Three Billys Gruff and we have watched it on our Interactive whiteboard too.  We wrote some descriptions of our own trolls.   We hope you like them.

My troll has spikes on his armor to stop the Billy Goats.  He lives under the bridge.  His spikes are very hot.  He is smelly.  He doesn’t let anyone cross his bridge because he isn’t a friendly troll. By Ben

My troll has a round chubby body.  He has a round head.  My troll has pointy spikes on his back.  My troll has long arms. My troll has short legs.
By Maddie

My troll has a round body like a soccer ball.   He has two short legs.  He has spikes on his tummy.  He has an angry face because he is grumpy.  He has long arms.
By Anas

My Troll has prickles over his body so the Billy Goats Gruff will get scared of him. The big billy goats gruff butt the mean troll on the bottom.
By Taylah

My troll is stinky.  He doesn’t live in a house.  He is really stinky.  He doesn’t have a shower.  He has long fur on this tummy.
By Erin

My troll has grey hair and spikes on his head.  He is angry and he doesn’t let people go over his bridge.  My troll can butt goats and they can butt the troll back.

Challenge Tree and Little Red Riding Hood.

Today Taylah made lunch for Grandma in the story Little Red Riding Hood. Mrs Heibner pretended to be Grandma and Taylah (as Little Red Riding Hood) took lunch to her. It was a delicious lunch! Taylah had made the muffins and the sandwiches but Grandma really liked the chocolate fish!

Today Taylah told us about a  topic she is really interested in for her Challenge Tree task.  She loves ballet and she brought along some of her special ballet things to show us.  She showed us what she has been learning to do at ballet. She has 3 medals! Well done Taylah. We loved seeing your photos and ballet clothes!

Disney on Ice

In the weekend Taylah and her parents went to Wellington to see Disney on Ice. She told us all about it and it sounded so exciting. Taylah showed us some photos from the show. The characters were beautiful and we loved reading the programme from the show. You are a lucky girl Taylah.

On Friday Fiona from Kiwi Swimsafe came to school to see how clever we were at swimming.
We did lots of splashing and we even got to dive in!
