Secret Codes

Yesterday Room 1 had fun making secret codes .  You may have seen these codes in newspapers or on business cards. They are called quick response codes (QR Codes) and can hold text, web addresses, maps etc.  We made codes for facts about Japan and our codes talk. We used this site http://qrvoice.net/ to make our codes.
To read the codes you need to have a QR reader on your smart phone or ipad. These are free from the App Store or Google Play.  You are also able to create your own codes using those apps. So if you have a phone download the app and have a go at reading our book.  If not come into class and you can use our ipad to scan the codes and see the artwork we made to match.

Poor Amy!

Everyone in Room 1 was sad to hear that Amy had an accident at school on Wednesday.  An ambulance came and took her to hospital.  She has a badly broken arm.
Hope sent us this photo of you.  It was great to see you looking happy!  Get better soon!
Here are some messages for you Amy:

Poor Amy! I hope you feel better soon.  She fell off the monkey bars.  I like you.  I want to play with you.  - Tyla

Amy went in an ambulance because she broke her arm.  The doctors made her go to sleep so they could fix her arm. - Oscar

The ambulance came to our school to get Amy to the hospital.  Amy had some ice-cream at the hospital to make her feel better. We miss you Amy!  - Zane

Amy, I miss you.  I hope you are better soon.  I hope it doesn't hurt too much
from Jordan.

I miss you Amy, very much.  I hope you come to school tomorrow from Sage.

Poor Amy, I hope you come back soon because I want to play with you and I miss you.
I hope you feel better from Camo.

To Amy,
I hope you are better soon.  I wonder if you have a cast on your arm?
Be brave!   from Beau

Mrs Beswick's Patchwork

On Friday Mrs Beswick brought her patchwork quilts to show us because we are learning all about shapes.
We learnt that when shapes all fit together it is called tessellation.
Mrs Beswick made lots of different patterns with hexagons, squares, triangles,  rectangles and even circles.
We thought she was one fantastic and clever lady!

We wrote stories about her Patchwork.  We hope you enjoy them.

Pride Award Term 2 Week 1

Anzac Day 2012

Today Henry brought some poppies from his garden to school. He told us all about ANZAC day and he had made a special poster about ANZAC day. We read a book Mrs Potts had called "My Grandad Marches on Anzac Day". Well done Henry, you know lots about this special day in New Zealand. Tyla wore her poppy to school as well. Great Tyla.

Maths in Room 1

Last week Mrs Potts took Beau, Mitchell, Neesha, Oscar, Jaden, Hunta and Henry to Room 21 to do some maths with Mrs Potts in front of other teachers. All of the children were fantastic and worked so hard. They even got to go back in the afternoon and make a map which was heaps of fun. Here are some photos of us working hard at maths time.

Lots of Colour!

We have been very busy in room 1 this term. Mrs Potts is very happy because the wires are now full of pictures. The classroom looks so colourful. Well done Room 1. You are all great artists!
