Fun Run!

Well done to Oscar, Camo, Ruby, Mya, Mitchell and Jaden for coming in the top 8 in their fun run yesterday.  The obstacle fun run was enjoyed by everyone and it was great to see everyone participating in the fun event!

Here is Ruby's story about the Fun Run.
I went to the fun run.  I came seventh in my race because i went fast.  When i had finished my chest was pumping really fast.  My legs were tired because i ran fast.  My favourite was jumping over the hurdles and going around the poles of wood and going under the trampoline.  It was fun at the fun run.

Spring Senses!!

Today we wrote stories about Spring using our senses...hearing, seeing, feeling, smelling and tasting. We read the big book "Spring" to get some ideas and start us off thinking about Spring. We had to stretch our ideas out and use some describing words. Mrs Potts thought we did a great job of our senses poems! Here are some of our Spring poems...

I see baby lambs with long legs.
I hear birds singing in the trees.
I feel the wind blowing on my face.
I taste honey from the bees.
I smell blossoms that are pink and white.
By Oscar

I see baby horses in the paddocks.
 I hear the bees flying.
I feel the wind blowing on my face.
I smell the honey that the bees make.
I taste the honey on my toast.
 By Nathan

I see daffodils warm and soft in my garden.
I see baby lambs with wobbly legs.
I feel the wind blowing on my back.
I hear the bees buzzing in the wind.
I taste the honey yum, yum, yum.
I smell the blossoms on the branches pink and white.
I see the sun more often.
By Amy

I see baby ducks in the water.
I hear bees buzzing in the blossoms.
I feel wind blowing on my face.
I taste the bees honey.  It is yum yum.
I like it on my toast.
By Kayden

I see daffodils in the garden.
I hear the ducks quacking.
I feel the sun on my face.
I smell the little flowers in the spring.
By Kieron

I see the sun shining on my back in the garden.
I hear the buzzing bees flying around looking for honey.
I feel the petals on the daffodils soft and bright.
I smell the beautiful cherry blossom trees.
I taste the  salty wind blowing on my face.

Secret Codes

Yesterday Room 1 had fun making secret codes .  You may have seen these codes in newspapers or on business cards. They are called quick response codes (QR Codes) and can hold text, web addresses, maps etc.  We made codes for facts about Japan and our codes talk. We used this site http://qrvoice.net/ to make our codes.
To read the codes you need to have a QR reader on your smart phone or ipad. These are free from the App Store or Google Play.  You are also able to create your own codes using those apps. So if you have a phone download the app and have a go at reading our book.  If not come into class and you can use our ipad to scan the codes and see the artwork we made to match.

Everyone in Room 1 was sad to hear that Amy had an accident at school on Wednesday.  An ambulance came and took her to hospital.  She has a badly broken arm.
Hope sent us this photo of you.  It was great to see you looking happy!  Get better soon!
Here are some messages for you Amy:

Mrs Beswick's Patchwork

On Friday Mrs Beswick brought her patchwork quilts to show us because we are learning all about shapes.
We learnt that when shapes all fit together it is called tessellation.
Mrs Beswick made lots of different patterns with hexagons, squares, triangles,  rectangles and even circles.
We thought she was one fantastic and clever lady!

We wrote stories about her Patchwork.  We hope you enjoy them.

Maths in Room 1

Last week Mrs Potts took Beau, Mitchell, Neesha, Oscar, Jaden, Hunta and Henry to Room 21 to do some maths with Mrs Potts in front of other teachers. All of the children were fantastic and worked so hard. They even got to go back in the afternoon and make a map which was heaps of fun. Here are some photos of us working hard at maths time.

Lots of Colour!

We have been very busy in room 1 this term. Mrs Potts is very happy because the wires are now full of pictures. The classroom looks so colourful. Well done Room 1. You are all great artists!
